We returned to the hospital this morning to meet up with the specialist gynaecologist. Before meeting him, Flo was hooked up to the CTG machine again to monitor the baby's heart rate. This time, it was in the normal, healthy range between 140 and 160 bpm for the thirty minutes or so that she was monitored. The gynaecologist had a good scan around with the ultrasound, taking measurements of the head and limbs and having a close look at the baby's heart. His conclusion... everything looked perfectly normally and the baby was, as far as he could see, perfectly healthy. He said the elevated heart rate was likely just linked to some high activity of the baby, particularly since the heart rate was seen to reduce during the time the baby was monitored earlier in the week.
So, scare over and everyone can relax once more!
