Today we met up at the new house with the designer, the building contractor and the structural engineer... and spent the first hour chatting and drinking coffee. A good sign of things to come; at least we all get on!
Looks like knocking down walls is going to be feasible, but there's going to be at least a 6 week wait while we submit paperwork and calculations to the council for approval; it could take as long as 12 weeks to get approved! But the important thing is that it's all feasible and so our original designs are looking good to base our plans upon.
Next steps are finalising the floor plan, deciding how we're going to support the wall that we're knocking through and what floors and doors we want! We're going to try and sell the kitchen that's currently fitted and we already have some nice ideas that will make the house a bit more novel. Looks like the kitchen is going to be a bit different to the original plan too.
Flo and I are both pretty keen to get started!
