Today I went out for lunch with two girls I met at our pregnancy class. At 38,39 and 40 weeks pregnant we turned out to be a bit of an attraction walking down the street. Over lunch we discussed the methods of bringing on labour. The basics, like eating fresh pineapple, drinking raspberry leaf tea, having sex or eating hot curries. One of the girl's friends had four cups of raspberry leaf tea and went into labour the same night. Exclamation mark! The friend was convinced this did the trick.
We were not so sure. Actually, we all agreed that by lack of randomised trials with raspberry leaf tea, you might as well have three cups of Earl Grey tea or one cup of Yak tea if you happen to live in Mongolia the day you go into labour. Babies tend to come when they are good and ready.
On an another note, according to this article, more babies are born during the week than during the weekend, with a statistically high number of children being born on Tuesdays. The lower staff levels of hospital maternity wards in hospitals and maternity centres had an effect on the timing of births.
There was me thinking how smart it is of babies to wait for when there is more medical staff around (and a bit of 'oh no, will I have to wait until after the weekend?'). Where of course the simple (and slightly boring) explanation is that most medical procedures are scheduled on... right... Tuesdays.
Any guesses what day this baby will get here?

At our hospital they could see a clear connection between full moon and waters breaking. So every months the day after a full moon was the one with the hightest number of births. When is it full moon?
Thinking of you, still wishing you all the best and keeping my fingers crossed. Hugs.

After trying to get a good latch while nursing at night I started to think that giving birth on a full moon was an evolutionary advantage - new moms would have some light to see that mouth open wide and get things positioned well.
I'm sure you know the lengths we went to to bring on labor. Who knows if it worked?
Hi dear! Your blog is so inspiring! I really enjoyed reading it! Your story is just breathtaking! I am happy to share my experience. I contacted Ukrainian clinic BioTexCom after having negative experiences from a center in the UK. The UK center was negative because of my age at 46. I decided to look elsewhere. I contacted various IVF clinics throughout Europe. I was apprehensive about the language barrier and the clinic helping to create a wonderful baby. I contacted the coordinator at BioTexCom who was immediately receptive, very professional and answered all my questions and concerns. They were very clear from the beginning about what the treatment would entail including precise costs and timings which were important to us. We opted for a donor whom this clinic carefully matched to me in physical appearance such as height, eye and hair color and interests. The process was very simple and flights were booked easily to Kiev. The housing which was given by BioTexCom was fantastic. The clinic was immaculate and the manager I encountered spoke excellent English and was extremely professional and put us at ease. The treatment was very straightforward. We were kept up to date at every step and there was no anxiety or stress. We are delighted with not one but twin gorgeous babies who fit in perfectly in appearance to our other children. I could not praise this clinic and their staff enough as they were all truly amazing and so understanding and supportive. I’m so grateful to them for helping us create truly wonderful babies and making our family complete!
